Designers have been referencing one of my favorite beauty products of yore:
Manic Panic. Punky, clashing colors are turning up without abandon for spring, and crazy hair is back with a vengeance (
Rodarte, Marc Jacobs).

Monday is always the most anticipated day of New York fashion week, and for good reason. First, I met
Chloe Sevigny at her off-the-radar little presentation for her new capsule collection for
Opening Ceremony. Held at the former Cloak store conveniently down the block from the NYLON offices--how genius--the event featured not only Chloe herself, looking totally rad and totally herself while sipping champagne in a high-waisted skirt from the line, but also the actresses best friends dressed in other pieces from the collection. "I designed it for my friends, after all," Sevigny told me. Aside from button-front day dresses that epitomize that sexy housewife look and open-back dresses, there were shoes that riffed on St. Marks Place in the 90s--a source of major inspiration for Sevigny. (There was even a cap made from recycled cassette tapes). Chloe, can I be your friend?
Afterward, I caught several other shows and presentations with my friend
Sofia Hedstrom, a journalist from Swedish Television. More Manic Panic colors at
Chris Benz where we ran into so many friends it was hard to concentrate on the great clothes.
Both Sofia and I were wearing
Marc by Marc in support of MJ, though we were definitely wilting by the time his show started at 11 pm (two hours after the scheduled time). Anyway, it was worth it...duh. - JENNY
