CHICAGO FASHION WEEK: JAKE

11 10 07 - 16:42 Lance Lawson and Jim Wetzel owners of the Chicagoland staple Jake (shopjake.com) hosted a bubble-filled reception to honor designer Doo.ri Tuesday afternoon. The Newberry Library was a surprisingly appropriate setting to showcase her spring collection. We loved the half-sweater/high waisted skirt combination -- sexy, yet so sophisticated.

"This reception has been great, I was so happy to be invited and take part in Chicago's Fashion Week," said designer Doo-Ri Chung, looking demure and polished in her sweater and pencil skirt. She fit right in with the setting - like a cute librarian, but with better shoes.

Chung is known for constructing jersey dresses that drape and fall in all the right places. What we loved about her spring 2008 collection was the effortless way in which complex detailing appeared natural.
