"IT" IS WHAT "IT" IS
29 10 07 - 11:55 When NYLON Magazine takes over LA, havoc is expected. It’s the kind of wild, rambunctious fun Los Angeles needs to stay alive. This party was no exception. When I got there, the line was wrapped around the block, into the dark abyss of Ivar Avenue. All the commotion was happening at the Green Door, right next to the not-so-haute/hot Cabana Club. The crowd of partygoers at the latter donned their best Halloween costumes (frat boy dressed as a bee anyone?), while NYLON party crashers looked like a generational mix of unapologetic hipness.- NYLON L.A. Gear ranged from West Coast –casual plain t’s, selvedge denims, and Vans (that ish is NOT over yet folks), but the uniform of the night was definitely the black leather motorcycle jacket. Cali has been experiencing some inappropriate autumn weather- like it has been crazy hot- and I was really surprised that people stepped out in cowhide. Did I miss the memo or something? But every time I wanted to scoff at the leather, someone would walk by me, wearing it with a Patti Smith kind of flair, and I’d forget I was in the middle of Hollywood, bobbing my head to 50 cent’s “I get money”.
Overall, the party was enjoyable. Thanks to Yosi and Evolutionary Media for putting together only a party Los Angelenos could appreciate. Glitz and glamour and mini red velvet cupcakes- a night of leather and Corey Kennedy worship, who’d expect anything less?
