Intern Exodus

14 08 07 - 11:37 As the summer sadly comes to a close, all of the NYLON interns are heading back to school or out into the world...

Either way, it’s incredibly sad thing that everyone has to pack up and move on. It’s been a great summer to intern at NYLON, and I thought that I would bust out a blog to tell you all about the interns that will be leaving us in a few days time.

Age: 21
Job at nylon: Fashion Intern
How long you've been here: Started June 4th-Aug 10th
What you want to do when you have a career: My career goal is to become the Fashion Director at a major publication.
Favorite part of your job: My favorite part of my job is being able to work on projects, that at a larger magazine, wouldn't let an intern work on. oh yeah...AND being surrounded with thousands of dollars worth of amazing clothes.
Most memorable intern experience: I can't pick one memory that is my favorite but these are things that made my internship extra awesome: going on photoshoots, fashion closet conversations, Moses and Abraham, Nylon Music Issue Party
What you will miss most about working here: I am going to miss the people at NYLON so much; the interns, the staff, and the puppies. All of them. Hopefully I will be back soon!

What you want to do when you have a career: I'm too young to close off my mind to every option available to me. I want to dabble in it all!
How long you've been here: Late June a.k.a. my summer break time.
Favorite part of your job: Learning how everything works, and seeing everything new and exciting NYLON is doing.
Most memorable intern experience: Assisting on my first shoot! Before interning, I've modeled and every time I did a photoshoot, I would always be interested in what was going on behind the scenes. And since I paid attention so much back then, I knew exactly how to do it when my turn came on the opposite side of the camera! I'm lucky enough to
have experience on both sides!
What you will miss most about working here: Being around the hub of all things cool. Bottom line, NYLON rules.

Job at Nylon: Editorial Intern
What you want to do when you have a career: I want to write about fun
things and if that doesn’t work out I’ll just become a truck driver.
How long you've been here: 2 months
Favorite part of your job: Getting to see the thought process that goes
into choosing what topics to write on and of course getting the issue
before all of my friends.
Most memorable intern experience: Going to People's Revolution and picking out looks plus talking to Pablo (Manager of PR) was a treat.
What you will miss most about working here: All the awkward moments that just make me laugh when I think back at them. Starting with my first week at Nylon where Stephen (the Photo Director) questioned if I was actually NYLON intern or if I was just a random person that walked off the street and into the office.

As sad as it is to watch all of Summer interns walk out the door, it does mean the exciting prospect of new interns! Just yesterday, Olivia, hailing all the way from London started work in the Ad/Sales department joining new fashion intern F.I.T. student, Kristen! In the next few weeks, I’m sure many new interns will be making their presence known. Who knows, it could be you!
