Diane was treated like Royal T

I attended Culver City’s Art Walk last weekend and I was not impressed with much of what I saw. But the lackluster art aside, my friends Evan and Freddie Cerasoli’s gallery dubbed Cerasoli Gallery (formerly Lab 101) was the highlight of my trek down South.

And with all the hype around Royal T, the astroturf/foliage-covered gallery/cafe/store (yes, it’s that complicated), I had to see it for myself. While undeniably unique, the space was a bit confusing, but the schizophrenic design gives Culver City the kind of edge it needs.

Walking in, you can’t ignore the enormous giant-sized stuffed things (i.e. squid, dog, and the like). And then there’s the actual cafĂ©, the enlarged Harajuku photographs, and cute waitresses like Megumi wearing cutesy maid outfits. Overall, it’s definitely worth checking out. But I might not get the Hello Kitty-endorsed Calpico next time.

EDIT: Why am I always a step behind Daily Candy? Apparently they just reported on this. Screwy.
