“What’s Your Inspiration?”

Backstage at Zaldy’s fashion show last year, the designer pulled me over.
“You know what I hate?” he asked.
String beans, I thought.
“I hate it when people say ‘What’s your inspiration?’ Like really? Do you really care? What if I told you my inspiration was the toilet? What then?”
But sometimes, you actually do use a visual reference to make something stylish. Or in my case, something silly:
