  Yesterday, NYLON got a shipment of LnA leggings in the office.

We asked our intern, Sabrina Bacon, to try them out.

She was extremely shy when she came back from the fashion closet, saying, “I can’t wear these!  They’re so tight!  They’re so not pants!”

But then she kept them on for like the rest of the day, and when we told her she could keep them, she wore them out of the office.

It seems the tights / pants war has claimed its latest partisan.

As for the rest of you, stay strong:

Tights may be okay for summer, but once September rolls around, you’ll be freezing your ass off and desperate for an amazing pair of thick-fabricked jeans.

Well, that’s the hope anyway.

The Tights Are Not Pants committee (which equals approximately 50% of the NYLON office -the rest of us are like, all tights, all the time.  So conclude what you will).

Next time you’re out in NYC, stop by the 303 Art Gallery in Chelsea… you never know who you’re gonna bump into…

After playing on Marc Jacobs’ runway, getting name-checked in Juno, and having a new line of tees sold at Urban Outfitters, Thurston Moore has had quite a year - but it officially ended on Wednesday night.

That’s when Thursday flipped from 49 to 50 years old, with a giant room of scenesters to celebrate.

The place was the 303 Gallery in Chelsea, where even Kirsten Dunst managed to come say hi - and besides a bar, there was a truck serving hot dogs, and another one with organic ice cream from a farm - OMG.

Thurston was DJing, but he got interrupted, by the cake at left and some black and silver balloons, and the whole room started singing and cheering.

Then it started to pour, and everyone huddled underneath a tent outside before it basically got blown away… but that’s another story.  xo faran

Did you know it’s Shark Week?  Us either.  Basically, this means you get to run around with a silly hat on your head.  This hat will not prevent you from getting eaten by a shark.  But checking with a lifeguard before you swim will.

So if ya’ll don’t already know, there’s this band out here in LA called The Intricate Machines (I’m lucky that two of the band members are my roommates) and they are on their way up and up! Having just released the EP, they have not only received RAVE reviews at music megafarm Amoeba, but they’ve been contacted by a few well-known and much respected music labels. Can’t divulge at the moment, it’s on the hush hush.

Anyway, tonight, they will be performing tracks from their latest album at SENOR FISH in Downtown LA for a monthly party, RERAX (which has been jumping off the last three months). Anyway- if you’re on this coast definitely check out the party and get a chance to catch Intricate Machines before they officially take over the world.
