Seriously.  Right now.  On Tv.  Getting a drink to erase the memory.

Have We Mentioned You Need to Vote?

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Even Ed Westwick wants you to.

Meanwhile, in Another Corner of Celeb Land…

Blake Lively wore Alpine Stars to the Late Show With David Letterman, which was actually during the day, but that’s a whole other “huh?” kind of discussion.

Anyway, Blake is wearing a dress that we in the NYLON office actually HAVE, and we were sort of stunned and psyched to see her prancing around in it instead of, like, Givenchy or something.

But maybe we would have buttoned up one more button on top.

You know, since if we were going on TV, our moms would see us and be like, all of America is getting a pretty good view right now.

Anyway.

Yay Blake for the dress!

The New Jump Off: STAN’s.

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Yooo guyz! Me and a few friends are throwing the new Thursday night party and it is going to be really rad. Stan’s, at 505 West and Jane Street starts tonight and it is going to be the jump off! DJ’s Austin Peters and Matt Ziering are going to be spinning everything from Fleetwood Mac to Killa Cam to The Virgins (who I saw last night at Santo’s Party House and killed it…. pictures will be coming up soon on the NYLON blog…). If you want to experience the new classic jam dance party of downtown New York, you better be there. 10 pm to 4 am tonight. Plus six dollar beers all night long! Trust me, you are going to want to be able to say you attended the first Stan’s ever. It will be the new good look for you. Dress code: Anything and everything, but I highly suggest looking at David Lynch’s Twin Peaks for inspiration. Peace~ Spacey Tracy xx

Radiohead Killed the Video Star

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Obama will have some competition tonight when he makes his big DNC speech, thanks to a crew of skinny British rockers.

The skinny rockers in question are Radiohead–the band just announced that they will webcast live the final show of their North American tour tonight.

“It’s one of our favourite places to play; I think we’ve ended tours there before, once even playing a cover of ‘ cinnamon girl ‘,” Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood wrote on the band’s website this afternoon. “It should be a special night, for lots of reasons, and we’re going to try and share as much of it as we can on the webcast. Nigel, our producer, will be helping out getting it to you, so if it goes wrong….It’s live!”

Indeed.$20 says Thom wears a Shepard Fairey T-shirt.

Black Lipstick: A Photo Response

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

When we asked our MySpace friends what they thought of the black lipstick trend we covered today, we got a little more than we bargained for, thanks to reader Gemma.

She sent us the photo of herself, at left, covered completely in black lipstick and posing in front of a questionably silly sculpture.

We’re sure this makeup work took hours and we totally, totally appreciate it.

To vote on whether you’d wear black lipstick, the normal way, and whether you want to see it in a future issue of NYLON, click here.

Tommy Hilfiger, Bootylicious

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

This is what Faran got in the mail today inviting her to the Tommy Hilfiger show. We really hope it means we’re getting mooned on the runway. Tommy Girls, indeed.

Rebecca Taylor Goes Anime

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

If Rebecca Taylor ever decides to stop designing, she can totally start another career as an animator.

Check out her illustration, at left, for her Spring ‘09 inspiration.

All we need is a songwriting team and some television actress to be the voice, and we’ve got the next Disney hit on our hands.

Note the peasant blouse, a staple of any singing princess.

Note the studded turquoise belt, which could be imbued with any number of magic powers.

Note the very scary looking heels, that may have been bequeathed to this forest beauty by an evil stepmother desperate to slow her down.

And it’s especially cute how her mouth is a lilac heart, and also, the absolute best part, how wherever she walks, little purple and pink and silver stars follow her every move…

Although I do wonder how they’ll get the models to do that during the show.
