Diane Likes Her Skaters

If you haven’t heard already about Deathbowl to Downtown, the newest addition to Coan Nichols and Rick Charnoski’s skate documentary-anthology. The movie revolves around the NY skate scene amid the grime and chaos of the 80’s through the 90’s. Clips of skaters trailblazing on beat up boards through the New York City traffic will give fixed gear riders of recent a run for their money. All this AND then narrated by Chloe Sevigny- kind of worth a look, no?
Anyway, throughout September and early October, the movie is being screened around the country as an early sneak and tomorrow night’s showing at the Director Guild of America theater will kick off the tour. I plan on being there, wishing that during my own skate-phase, I didn’t let a massive (mostly embarrassing) fall on campus deter me from becoming a better skater. Well, I guess I didn’t really need all those bruises on my gams anyway- wouldn’t have looked good with my wedges!
Don’t forget to RSVP- doors open at 7pm…
