In April, designer Daryl K put up a sign in her Manhattan boutique that said “fuck the recession.”
Now it seems like she’s taking a different attitude: If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.
Witness the new Daryl K “recession dress,” onsale now at Barneys Co-op.
The dress is oh-so-nineties, especially its strappy top and the winding seam down the bottom, rendered in a blue hue that’s so dismal it’s chic.
But the real punchline here is the price:
$620 before taxes.
That may seem expensive for a fashion statement about… well, you know, but you’ve got to appreciate the irony – another reference to the ’90s!
Anyway, if you’ve got Euros, it converts to something like $19.99, so you should totally go for it – you can even buy it online. xo faran.

During the recent downturn, my family and I have gotten over our heads in personal debt. I have been reading that the best way to get out of debt is to get off of the large credit card debt and to consolidate the debt into a single, larger loan than has a lower, in some cases much lower, interest rate. Is there any truth to this, or is this just a sales job from some banker?

Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.
