Don’t Get Dead Head This Halloween

Zombie makeup on Halloween = Good.

Zombie makeup the day after Halloween = Bad.

Whether you’re going as zombie Palin, the Bride of Frankenstein, or a pack of Skittles, putting on loads of face paint and hair gel is the easy part – getting it all off is the real horror story on Halloween.

Here are my favorite take-it-all-off products. You may still find bits of glitter in your hair come Thanksgiving, but at least that fake blood will be off.

The So So Glos Want You To Watch Movies (And Vote)

Friday, October 31st, 2008

The So So Glos are a Brooklyn punk band that makes even the most basic three-chord song sound political.

When their album comes out on November 4, you can hear what they think about the direction of this country; in the meantime, the quartet wanted to make sure that NYLON readers not only get to the polls on Tuesday, but that they get political.

Here’s their list for the top four ways to make a difference on November 4 and beyond:

Get over that Halloween hangover with some good art, fun music, and, yes, more beer.

Costume National

Even puppies get suited up for Halloween tonight!

Check out Stewie, the super-cute bulldog of photographer Harper Smith.

Too bad dogs can’t have candy, because if this guy showed up at our door, well…

All of our Peanut Butter Cups would be gone.

We won’t hurt Stewie’s feelings by telling him he doesn’t look scary.

Awwwww.

Tell Harper her dog is adorable at www.harpersmithphotography.com

xoxo.

Oh Mandy!

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Awww!

Mandy Moore looks super goofy in this photo, but we’re still digging her outfit:

A striped scarf from the Gap, a faded gray tee, ballet flats, and Sandra jeans from Siwy.

It’s especially cute how the ankles have little zippers on them.

Definitely a great outfit -

Just totally impossible for anybody not in a sunshine state right now -

Though if you modify the t-shirt with a cropped wool coat, in a deeper gray, the look would stay the same, and you’d still get the really adorable detailing on the butt of the jeans.

And we won’t lie, all we want to wear lately is jeans.

I love the clashing patterns and haunting faces in this one.  I shot it on the side of a coffee shop this March in London.  Got your own great graffiti shots?  Mail them in:  faran@nylonmag.com

To The Letter

There’s something quite cool about these leggings from Married to the Mob. It’s like, Sesame Street meets Silverlake.
