Happy Thanksgiving, here’s your game Cheat Sheet

Tag! Madrid

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

“Dear Faran,

I just love this wall!

Such an amazing drawing.

It’s in Madrid.

I always wonder how they did it and what’s going to happen to it!

Hopefully, they won’t build anything and cover it up.  It would be a shame.

Xx

3) Download the band’s new EP – for free.

4) Upload it to your music player of choice (be it an iPod, Zune, CD player, or Walkman).

5) Run out the door – you can head out now that you’ve got new music for your trip home.

PS: If you’re already at home, check out the video to “People Have a Way” here. It’s awesome.

I couldn’t get over this sign outside the Sophie Roan boutique in New York’s East Village.  It’s just… whoa.  xo faran

Lolcats Are So Indie Rock

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

A few weeks ago, I got an email imploring me to check out the band The Knees.

They’re like Weezer fronted by Liz Phair!

They’ve got a CD selling for $1,609!

They sing deadbeat dude lyrics!

But really, the publicist explained, I had to check out their video for “Sick of Being Stoned”. And I did. And it’s hilarious–especially if you like lolcats, videos of cute animals, or sing-along songs. You can watch it here. And download the single for free here. Consider this my Thanksgiving gift to you…xxRebecca

Fringe Elements, Continued

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Yesterday, I agonized over a pair of cute Koolaburra moccasins that had the unfortunate distinction of being photographed on Lauren Conrad, Vanessa Hudgens, and other girls I don’t want to be like.

Today, I’m pulling a Suzy Style Bubble, with apologies, to analyze the footwear.

I’ve paired the moccs with the Paris jean from MiH, and an American Apparel top from the guys department that I’ m weirdly obsessed with (meaning, I’ve worn it for three days straight and refuse to take it off).

And yeah, that’s my bedroom, and yeah, that’s my non-yoga tummy, and we’re going to move past all that and just discuss the shoes:

They are not terrible. They are very comfortable. And in them, I look like a minor character from The Clique books by Lisi Harrison – trendy, suburban, and about fourteen years old.

So I think this is the solution:

I’m lugging them to rural Massachusetts tomorrow, where I will hole up with family and childhood friends for Thanksgiving, and later, for Hanukkah.

The boots will stay there, where they can be appreciated in the comfort of my own house – ie: the place where Coach bags still reign (at least according to my mom), moisturizer counts as “makeup,” and nobody cares that I’m wearing way cute, way comfortable Ugg improvements while icing cookies and watching late night movies with my BFF from grade school.

Problem solved -I think… xo faran
