I hate lip balm because it doesn’t work. Really, it just doesn’t.
But last year, I went to visit my little brother in Germany, and he introduced me to Labello, the German chap stick that is ah-mazing.
It’s just starting to leak into the US – shockingly, eBay’s a pretty good source – and I highly recommend it, especially as a base underneath lipstick, lip gloss… or somebody else’s mouth.

In other English-speaking countries, it’s marketed as ‘Nivea Lip Care’ – same packaging, different name. A quick search shows it’s available in the U.S. under that name.

seriously, you don’t have labello in the states? we’ve always had it up in canada – maybe that says more about the state of our chapped lips though!

Yeah, we’ve had Labello in Canada for ages…not the best chapstick. I dig Lucas’ Papaw Ointment from Australia..unreal.

i am from Berlin /Germany and the Nivea lipstick is NOT the same as Labello.
Its really good as well, but not the SAME at all.
There are some websites german grocerie stores online where you can get them as well.

I think its been around for a while just really select stores. When I went to montreal in ’05 I bought it as a necessity not knowing that I would forever be spoiled with chap stick. I’ve been hooked ever since.

I live in Italy and Labello is a very common product!
It costs only one euro and 50 cents, and there so many differents kinds of scents and flavours.
Pineapple, pinkgrape fruit, banana, kiwi, and labellos are all with respective colors of the flavour!
It’s funny how in the US is a rare product!

I wish more people would write blogs like this that are actually fun to read. With all the fluff floating around on the net, it is rare to read a blog like yours instead.
