Cube Dude Strikes Again?
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009
Spotted at the Surface To Air store in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Is the Cube Dude going global, or is someone just very obsessed with ’80s toys?
Masked Avenger

Alexandre Herchcovitch gifted these masks to all of the models who walked in his show during Sao Paulo Fashion Week, but not everyone is using them for sleep. Could it be the new headband?

“Dear Faran,
Hello! I saw your request for graffiti and I couldn’t resist sending this!
I stumbled upon this incredible mural last winter near my house in southern Oregon.
Currently the wall is being repainted into something else.

Ooh, very Disney-Goes-Jinseng. If you have graffiti, send it to faran@nylonmag.com

These new shoes from GUESS are called “The Carrie.”
They could either belong to Carrie Bradshaw circa 1998…
Or maybe Carrie from the Stephen King movie, when she goes to prom.
There was also a TV sequel to Carrie, starring Patricia Clarkson and Emilie de Ravin from Lost.
Or maybe they’re for Carrie Fischer, the original Princess Leia, since these shoes are awfully space age, at least in color.
Guess we’ll have to guess about them…
White Out
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009
New York Magazine had this rather riveting shot of model Alexandra Tomlinson falling at the Chanel Couture show this morning.
They seem most captivated with the model’s heels, which inevitably led to her tumble, but I’m more fixed on her hands:
Check out the bright white nail polish and the very short, very square, very aggressive manicure she’s been given.
It’s really different from the longer, rounder nails we’ve seen all season, but also sort of an obvious color choice:
“Well, we’ve already done black nails to death, let’s go for white now instead!”
The good news:
If you bite your nails or can’t keep them long, this is the high fashion look for you.
The other good news:
If you fall in your new couture heels, your nails will be too short to break on the pavement. Or in this case, the runway. Ow. xo faran

“Hey Faran,
I saw on the blog that you were requesting submissions for graffiti.
So I’ve sent along some work I’ve been doing recently.
They’re called “Discovery Diagrams,” and they connect everyone that can fit into the space.
Mostly concentrating on the Cage/Fluxus area into the early ’80s New York scene.
This one was done on an abandoned radar base in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Hope you enjoy.
Best,
Erin Allen.”
Whoa, that’s a lot to think about. If you want to share your graffiti, email faran@nylonmag.com and make sure you click below to see blow-ups of Erin’s work.

PS, if you want the Preen dress that Leighton wore to the NYLON Mexico party, you’re in luck:
Net-a-Porter just got it in today.
It’s called the Cordula Lace Up Dress, and it’s about $1200.
The dress comes in sizes 0 – 12 and…
Oh wait.
Now Net-a-Porter is reporting that it’s already sold out.
Did Leighton’s weekend appearance really push it over the edge?
Or did the actress pull a Blair Waldorf and buy every copy on the market so she’d be the only one, ever, to wear it around?
Clever, clever girl.
