The cast of the Gossip Girl spinoff has been announced, and playing the role of ’90s teen queen Lily Van Der Woodsen is none other than…
Brittany Snow.
NYLON has a long love affair with Brittany - Marvin cast her in 2005 for his first music video shoot with The Academy Is, and we interviewed her this year about her new projects in theater and political activism. And gosh, was she good (and surprising) in Nip / Tuck last year, when she played a teen neo-Nazi - something so far from her actual personality, she should have gotten an Emmy.
But… does Brittany really look like Lily Van Der Woodsen? She just seems way more… fun.

well, i think she does resemble her. and if she can pull off other roles, then she can do this one. i have faith in brit.

no way!
brittany snow has a childish baby voice and lily has a very sophisticated normal voice, they have no alike facial features other than blonde hair and pale skin. brits eyes are light blue and lilys are hazel green!
the voice differences are what kill it the most though
i do not picture lily as brittany snow AT ALL!

I dont think so at all. but it really depends on how much all the other people look like their characters and if they fit with her better than it seems.

Oh no, the other people I’ve seen dont fit in at all either, so my hopes of them helping her seem more fit, are out of the question. now it all depends on how good the show actually is. but i can’t believe as of now that it could be any better than gossip girl itself, but it’s better than any otehr show out there, so it’d be hard to compete with it.

shes too inocent to be playing lily. when i think of brittany snow i think of innocent blond and when i think of lily i think of hot tough blond, rough all around the edges. I dont think Brittany can pull it off but if by some miracle she does than hooray to her and she has taken another step to becoming a better actress.

oh no! they should’ve cast whitney port from the hills/the city. i think they look super similar and whitney wouldn’t even have to act - she already lives the part.

I think that Brittany is a fantastic actress, I’ve been watching her since Guiding Light, and I think she’s amazing and believable. So of course, I think that she’d pull it off fantastically. And the bonus, she resembles a younger version, so of course it’s a great idea!

I think she’s a great actress, and she does seem more “fun”…but wasn’t Lily supposedly wild when she was younger? also, I’m pretty positive people don’t sound exactly the same when you’re 20 years younger, nor do they look exactly the same. I hope this show delivers, though. I could see it being stupid. but I love Gossip Girl, so I’m willing to give it a shot.

Love Brittany Snow. She’s that girl who you assume will be one way because of how she looks - but would completely surprise you.
And I agree - she definitely looks like a way more fun Lily
