“Dear Faran,

Here’s some pretty sweet graffiti I found in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago.

These are near the University of Edinburgh.

XX Caroline”

For those that have never been:

Edinburgh is easily one of the most fun, the most friendly, and the most beautiful cities in the world.

And the streets smell like brewing beer, no lie.

The Secrets of Tie Dye

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Today I visited Felder / Felder, a design label from London that’s one of my favorites.

The brand is run by two sisters, Daniela and Annette, who are originally from Germany.  Their stuff reminds me a bit of Elyse Overland – lots of leather miniskirts with studding, dip dyed suedes, really sexy looks.

Today they had a killer miniskirt and pants tie dyed in black (the pattern’s at left).  I asked how they did it, and Daniela told me their secret:

“We tie the fabric very tight around a wine bottle and then dip it into bleach.”

So simple but so genius.

Definitely trying that at home.  xo faran

London Calling

It wasn’t just the clothing that impressed me when I stopped by the Centre For Fashion Enterprise’s temporary showroom yesterday.

The accessories were equally amazing.

Linda Farrow for Peter Pilotto sunglasses?

Aminaka Wilmont zipper necklaces?

Natascha Stolle gloves/bangles?

Yes, yes, yes!

Princess Peach is Fit to Print

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Before The Sartorialist, there was Bill Cunningham, the New York Times photographer that’s documented urban street style for over fifty years.

Mr. Cunningham is still ticking – this year, he was given the French Legion of Honor in Paris – and besides capturing uptown socialites and overly colorful tourists, he sometimes snaps our friends.

This Sunday, his spread included DJ Leigh Lezark, who’s a frequent NYLON model, and also Peaches Geldof!

Here’s PG leaving the Chanel show in Paris last month.

She cleans up good, huh?

Stay tuned next week, when Princess Peach wins Mario Cart, while wearing the new Rodarte / Nicholas Kirkwood heels.
