Have You Seen These Sandals?

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

A common complaint in the NYLON office is how often “New Arrivals” on Pixie Market’s website are already sold out.

In fact, we’ve turned to the blog to fume about it before.

So here’s round two:

These Max sandals from Bijux Shoes are perfect for a summer afternoon spent brunching, thrifting, drinking, and beach-hopping. They look tough, but they also look like they won’t give you blisters.

And? They’re already sold out. Pixie Market promises they’re being re-ordered, but I figured I’d just find another way to find them. Only, there doesn’t seem to be another e-boutique selling them.

Which is why I’m turning to you, dear readers. Have you seen these sandals? Let me know, my feet are dying for them… xxRebecca

Made In Brazil

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

While in Sao Paulo this past winter, I quickly realized that Havaianas are up there with Gisele and caipirinhas on the list of things Brazilians are most proud of.

You don’t just own them; you customize them, you personalize them, and you wear them with just about everything.

Almost like the classic white tee or skinny jeans you’d find at an all-American store like Gap.

Which is why Havaiana’s spring partnership with Gap makes so much sense. The Brazilian flip-flop brand is featured in Gap’s Urban Beach pop-up shop, which is open today through June 13 at the 5th Ave/53rd street NYC location.

You can pick your size, pick your colors, pick your charms (yes, I might have gotten a skull pierced into my rubber). The only thing to make it even more authentic would be if they served frozen drinks – you’re on your own with that one.

Spotted: Harley in Topshop Spots

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

That orange spotted Barbara Hulanicki for Topshop dress I was obsessing over earlier this week?

Yeah, glad I didn’t get it.

Not just because it’s insanely short (seriously, I get we’re in a bit of recession, but there’s no need to be thirfty over a few inches of fabric). But because I would have showed up to the Belvedere Black Raspberry launch party in the exact same dress as DJ (and NYLON It Girl) Harley Viera-Newton. Quel horror!

I might be the only one with that fear, since the dress is already sold out on Topshop’s website. Apparently there are worse indignities than someone wearing the same outfit as you…

Finally: The Plastiscines Lyrics!

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

We love getting your Plastiscines fan mail, but while we can’t set you up on a date with Louise (sorry Steve Rojas), we can help you out with the most common request:

“What are the lyrics to Barcelona?!”

Here you go – now you can sing along to your iPod:

You can use anyone / But it won’t be long ’til somebody finds there’s something wrong. / Now, four seasons have passed / Buried at last, and covered in ash / Our love is gone.

Say whatever you want, but the beat goes on / It’s better for us to stay away / Wait, I have enough faith, courage and strength, just to move on and meditate.

Let’s get down in Barcelona, I like romancing, but I don’t wanna / Let’s get down in Barcelona, tonight we’re dancing like no tomorrow.

Now, just like before, we’re both on the floor, and we will get out of this another time / And, as we’re shaking hands, we understand, you go your way and I go mine.

Let’s get down in Barcelona, I like romancing, but I don’t wanna / Let’s get down in Barcelona, tonight we’re dancing like tomorrow… Let’s get down in Barcelona, I like romancing, but I don’t wanna / Let’s get down in Barcelona, tonight we’re dancing like tomorrow…

Falling down, falling down, touch the ground, touch the ground / Going mad, going mad, not too bad, not too bad!!!

And there you have it.  If you want the song, go to iTunes and grab it.  If you want that cool sticker, as seen on MaiLynn’s Blackberry… well, we’ll be giving those away soon enough.

PS:  BE FRIENDS WITH THE PLASTISCINES ON FACEBOOK!
