Stop, Hey, What’s That Sound?
People ask me all the time what it’s like to work at NYLON.
Here’s one answer:
It’s loud.
We play new music in the office every day. We play old music in the office every day. In fact, if someone’s iMac isn’t blaring a custom playlist – and someone else isn’t asking about it / begging for it / complaining about it – then it’s a good bet the entire NYLON staff is out to lunch.
Oh, but you want more specifics? Okay, well, it seems like the following sounds come from the following NYLON-ers:
Luke – Anything electro.
Mickey – New Order and The Cure.
Shruti – The Killers.
Lina – Chairlift.
Nisha – Green Day.
Kelly – Boy Least Likely To.
Chip – Taylor Swift.
Our Interns – The Virgins.

hahaha! I work in radio and that’s exactly what our office sounds like: a couple radio stations, people pulling clips and arguing about stuff like melissa mclelland vs. jenny lewis or ancient REM covers or editing pieces out loud… it’s chaos!
