Chanel visionary Karl Lagerfeld once remarked, “I like things to be very cheap or very expensive – nothing in between.”
Perhaps the best example of that idea is the latest Chanel watch, made of diamonds… and rubber.
Inspired by the Place Vendome in Paris, the wristwatch has a rubber band in either black or white (which means you could actually dunk it in soapy water for a quick cleaning).
Meanwhile, the face is shaped like the stopper of Chanel’s classic No. 5 perfume bottle.
The French would call that little detail – along with the gem-and-latex combo – charmante.
The English would call it subversive.
The NYLON office?
We just call it cool.
