Huge heel. Small platform. Lots of straps.

While this shoe, by Raphael Young, is stunning, it also doesn’t look like it would be that comfortable.

Think again. As the winner of the “Best Shoe in Overall Design” category at the Independent Handbag and Shoe Awards Tuesday night, Young is getting a little extra bounce to his step, courtesy of Foot Petals.

The foot-comfort company is working with Young to make the inside of the shoes as comfortably as possible (with Sam Edelman lending a hand with the outside). The resulting limited-edition heels will be available at Verve in New York City and footpetals.com later this year.

It makes you wonder why this isn’t mandatory for all shoes rising more than two inches off the ground…
