Hear Me Now: LANDy
Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
Adam Goldberg – best know for his roles in The Hebrew Hammer and Dazed and Confused – released an album this week that’s…wait for it…actually good.
Going by the name LANDy, Goldberg takes on heartbreak like its his latest role. The entire album, Eros and Omissions, is an ode to love lost, with Goldberg providing a nasally narrative over layered melodies and dulcet backing vocals. Despite the album’s obsession with heartbreak, the actual recording process wasn’t one long lonely trip – Goldberg had the help of his friends Steven Drozd (of Flaming Lips) and Aaron Espinoza (of Earlimart). But it wasn’t an overnight process; he first started recording songs back in 2002, and nearly ditched the entire thing back in 2008, after he had collected an album’s worth of songs.
We’re glad he followed through; the album is heavy, but in a good way. Like, perfect for some quirky indie drama soundtrack good. And it serves as proof that adding a slash to your resume doesn’t need to result in disaster.
PS: Adam, if you’re reading this, get Julie Delpy to make a sequel to 2 Days in Paris… xxRebecca
