Editor’s Note: We sent the actress Alexi Wasser to a pool party in LA. Why? Because it was fun, and we live in New York.

Pool parties on the roof of the Standard Hotel are always fun, but add DJs (Ana Calderan, Mickey Schiff), bands (Dawes, Warpaint), tacos, squirt guns, screen printing, and a vending machine that sells bikinis and board shorts and it’s epic.

Yes, apparently, vending machines aren’t just for soda and candy bars anymore. They can take things to a whole new level of fashionable water wear when you’re in a pinch. Just imagine: everyone’s in the pool, and you’re all bummed cuz you forget your bathing suit at home…. No need to worry anymore, or jump into the pool naked (Don’t do that. Trust me, I have, and it will only come back to haunt you, especially when everyone has a camera phone nowadays).

The collection in the vending machine was inspired by Quicksilver’s original board shorts from the 70′s and 80′s (Remember those days? Probably not, but you’ll look like you do now). The series includes four different designs inspired by each Standard Hotel (LA, New York, and Miami). I’m wearing the LA shorts with the Quicksilver bikini top.

The board shorts have been updated with modern fits, fabrics, and technology, and come packaged in a specially designed waterproof travel bag. Special details can also be found on inside their waistbands, including a handpicked list of addresses corresponding to must-see destinations in each city- hand picked and personally written by legendary skateboarder and Quiksilver creative director Natas Kaupas.

The first vending machine is located on the rooftop deck at the Standard Downtown LA. The board shorts are also available online at shopthestandard.com. xo, alexi wasser
