Before Hard Candy was an Ellen Page film, a Madonna album, and a song by Counting Crows (yes, occasionally we admit the Countin Crows exist), it was a nail polish from Dina Mohajer.
The med student turned manicure guru started her own business from a dorm room, then transformed it into a ’90s success story, and a major fad – Did you have light blue nails in high school? Did everybody else?
Hard Candy made guest appearances on MTV’s House of Style, and on David Letterman, when Alicia Silverstone appeared at his famous desk sporting pastel nails with her perfect hair.
Now Hard Candy is poised to make another appearance – at Wal Mart. The brand just signed a deal to trade in its $12 bottles of lacquer for a new look, a discount price, and a fresh slew of fans across the country.
But will they still make the blue nail polish we know and love? Stay tuned.
