On Pins And Needles
The news that DJ-slash-street style blog regular Mandy Coon was venturing into design piqued our curiosity. Her debut presentation didn’t disappoint—especially when it came to the hair.
Recreating Coon’s own edgy haircut, Pasquale Ferrante of Ion Salon fixed a strict part, layered rows of bobby pins on one side, and braided under to create a bob on the other side.
Five boxes of Italian bobby pins later and Ferrante and his team gave us some of the most interesting ‘dos we’ve seen this week – even if it took 45 minutes per model. “I didn’t want to just come out with a ponytail or a bun like everyone else—the idea is to represent Mandy and create something as forward as the clothes,” explains Ferrante.
Makeup artist Francelle kept it simple—“let the girls be themselves” was her mantra. Shunning blush, shadow or lipstick, Francelle created au naturel looks with only Nars cleansing oil, sheer matte foundation, and eyebrow pencil. “Next year I think we’ll start going for something simpler,” says Francelle. “We’ve seen so much color the past season.”
Bobby pins galore or barely there makeup, which will you try out? xx MLMN
