Do You Like Scary Movies?
Friday, October 30th, 2009
Before Rebecca went home with the flu (a genuinely scary occurrence), she mentioned Scream as a fashionable scary movie.
It’s true Drew Barrymore’s crop top was adorable, but maybe that’s part of the problem – Scream was funny and biting and great, but scary? Eh.
The same thing happens with a lot of “scary” movies. Hitchcock films, at this point, are more beautiful than frightening. Gory slasher flicks – even good ones like Disturbia – are just fun. And then you get something like Turistas, which sadly just sucks (sorry, Liv).
So which movies are actually scary to you?
I’m voting for “Oh my god, that could actually happen” movies like Children of Men, War of the Worlds, and the upcoming The Road. Also, the dinosaur / Stravinsky sequence in the original Fantasia scared the crap out of me as a child, and I’ve vowed to never see it again.
What about you? What’s actually a scary movie?

Don’t Get Up
Friday, October 30th, 2009
On Sunday, you’ll probably want to stay in bed all day with DVDs, a Hulu play list, and two giant bottles of water.
The only problem is, when you’re tired and possibly still drunk, the possibilities for spillage are endless.
And you don’t want to wreck your new Calvin Klein bedspread, do you?
Thankfully, designer Peter White has your back. He made these crazy trays in yellow, red, and white to successfully stand-in for a tabletop when all you want is some Chinese takeout and the last episode of Flash Forward.
Check out Peter’s design, and his other projects, at bywhite.com

Holy Caffeine Intake, Batman!
According to AOL, Jolt Cola may soon be stopping production!
The heavy-on-sugar, heavy-on-wakeup drink, which is considered by most as a prelude to Redbull, declared bankruptcy last year, and may not be able to pay off its $5 million debt in time to save its factory.
If Jolt shuts down, we’ll have no choice but to raid Starbucks each and every time we get sleepy.

It’s National Oatmeal Day!
Thursday, October 29th, 2009
According to the infallible news source Twitter, today is National Oatmeal Day.
Lina likes steel cut oats, Tylan says Starbucks oatmeal is “perfect,” Kelly prefers the oatmeal at Jamba Juice, and Jay refuses to eat it because “it looks like little dead space aliens.”
My thoughts exactly.
Actually, no, I like dried oatmeal as part of granola.
But why do we need a National Oatmeal Day? Anybody?
