They’ve Got The Beat, Pt. 1
Beth Ditto isn’t the only reason to check out the Gossip during their cross-country tour that starts tonight.
Meet Apache Beat, a Brooklyn-based five-piece that have already gotten the NYLON stamp of approval. Now singer Ilirjana is joining our team, blogging for NYLON from the Apache Beat tour van (or, if she’s lucky, the swanky Gossip bus).
While you wait for the band to play in your city, keep checking back for weekly updates...
Today I completely forgot I was meant to be going on tour tomorrow!
How awesome am I for that?
I was at lunch with my friend Dean, at his office for label True Panther Sounds, and I guess with all the music talk and the billion records surrounding me that it finally hit me:
a) I am about to got on tour
b) I haven’t packed for tour, or basically done anything I need to do.

Dean being very concerned with my stress. Note the Girls record behind him had “Gone Cardboard”. Big news!
I then rushed over to my friend, designer Stephanie Draves, to pick up some of my outfits she fitted for me this tour. I am currently obsessed with sequins and skating, so my outfits are hitting the line of “dark wave ice skater”. I haven’t decided if this is a good or bad thing yet… please let me know. I will leave a suggestion box at the merch table after our shows.

Pictured: Stephanie working on one of my dresses. Not pictured (thankfully): Me not helping her, but instead dancing along to The Police.
Christina Aceto (synthesizer/piano) and I then met up to start the filming of the video for our new single, “Your Powers Are Magic”. The premise of the music video is girls lost in the woods being over taken by “spirits”. It is actually cooler than I can explain in a few lines. We were shooting the studio part today (hence no woods). I am pretty excited to see this video when done (with woods and magical things).

Hunter Fairstone, our director, chilling in a New Kids On The Block T-shirt. He was busier than this actually shows.

Me trying to understand what Hunter is telling me to do.

Christina waiting for direction.
At 1 a.m. we were done. I was so tired and had only enough energy to go home and pack. Tomorrow we head to Washington D.C. for our first show on the Gossip tour. Should be some good times a coming…
