They’ve Got The Beat, Pt. 2

Apache Beat’s latest report from the road while touring with the Gossip.

Being in a tour van is like playing a game of “How Much Can I Sleep Without Being Tired”.

I think I am pretty much a gold medalist in this sport, and basically slept the way from NY to DC.

We got there to find we had to unload all our equipment onto the back parking lot of the 9:30 Club.

This is where the Gossip found us chilling around our drum kit looking like some fancy buskers.

We all went inside and ate 9:30 cupcakes. No joke, these were some kick ass desserts…

I did not eat them all, though I would have liked to.

The show was great. When we played, our drummer Neil broke his kick drum during a song, but luckily it was right at the end of our set. Some amazing dude (so amazing Beth later kissed him from the stage) was so distraught we had stopped that he started cursing the venue! He then pleaded with me to forgo ending the set, asking me sing a Heart song a cappella … how did he know I loved Heart??? Mysterious…

The Gossip came on stage and killed it. They said it was their first US show in 3 years?? Wow. Beth’s hair is now some crazy amazing red and she looked good (as always). I was sitting side of stage and so this may not represent the awesomeness of the show, but you can take my word for it. Awesome.

World’s laziest photographer (me) trying to capture a Gossip moment whilst sitting at the side of stage.

Nathan (Gossip) and our tour manager Parker. Here, Nathan was blocking me from capturing a Gossip moment.

Next day I ate some unhealthy lunch and than again slept my way from DC to Philly. Our band arrived at the TLA to find Chris (Gossip) pointing out the marque. Philly was cool. I didn’t have a cheesesteak, though, mainly because I was disappointed it was a sandwich, and not a piece of meat with cheese on it.

Chris was trying to make out what Gossip means.

The TLA show was fun, despite lack of cupcakes.

We had to leave early to prepare for our next show, but time (and markers) were around to help us leave our “we were here” mark. Hope the venue appreciates our gift…

Nathan was trying to be arty about it.

Today (Friday) we play our hometown, New York, at Terminal 5. See you there!
