Can We Wear It, Too?
Last year in the Marc by Marc store, a saleswoman took a quick look at me and said “All the Little Marc kids’ stuff is on sale. You should go grab some. It’ll fit you.”
This wasn’t a comment on my size - I’m pretty normal, a 27 jean with - well, there’s no “cool” way to say this - big boobs. Rather, it alluded to the fact that kids are getting bigger - much bigger - and kids’ clothing needs to grow with them.
That’s why when WWD previewed the new Stella McCartney x Gap collection - a range that’s supposed to be for kids only - I crossed my fingers.
I already own some boys’ flannel tees from Gap Kids (they’re great for layering under blazers), and I’m thinking of their Boys Age 12 shirts fit me, then maybe those drummer-boy jackets at left will have a chance, too.
The striped tiger sweater dress on the girl is also way adorable, but I can’t kid myself -
I’m 5′5 and almost always in massive heels. There’s no way that thing is going to be a dress on me, even in an extra large.
But maybe with my grown-up size Gap jeans?

Ha! I was just saying this earlier. My only concern is that I’ll be too embarrassed to take these into the dressing room so I’ll have to buy (for my “niece”) with the possibility of returning them. I’ve considered doing the same with the Crew Cuts stuff too, but haven’t tried yet.
