After debating just how fun-party-band Free Energy are, the NYLON crew headed over to Brooklyn to catch Best Coast’s second – and last – show during CMJ. Although we got there hours before she actually took to the floor (Monster Island is too cool for stages), we didn’t mind; after Tuesday night’s debacle, there was no way we were missing her set again.
Which was fine, because a) the opening bands were solid, and b) the Eternal Summer taco truck was parked just a few blocks away.
Despite the fact that her drummer was a no-show for the tour, Best Coast exceeded our already high expectations. You know the buzz is for real when a big-name fashion label is scouting for “real girl” models for an upcoming shoot at your gig…
