Running the (Music) Marathon, Day 3

Number of bands: 1

Number of Frankie Spuntino pretzels: 2

Number of Star Wars stars: 1

Thursday seemed to be the hump day of CMJ – though there were good shows happening all day long (The XX! Surfer Blood! Japandroids!), I was just as happy having a low-key afternoon, skipping shows during the day and grabbing dinner with the Sub Pop and Beggars crew at night.

Funny, then, that the one party I went to happened to be the most star-studded (at least, by CMJ standards). Natalie Portman and Laura Mulleavy (of Rodarte) trekked all the way out Cobble Hill’s Frankie Spuntino for the Mexican Summer/Kemaod fete in the backyard. There was food, there was drink, there was Farmer Dave Scher and his sloth puppet.

Just what I needed to recharge before two more days of music…

PS: Yes, that’s a photo of Free Energy from the day before.
