The Skinny on Jeans
Last week, we asked our readers how much was too much for a pair of jeans, and you guys didn’t hesitate to let us know what was on your mind.
Most admitted that $50 is a good price for denim, especially if it comes from Urban Outfitters, Gap, or the Lucky Brand sale rack. And while most will spend between $50-100 for a pair, even more of you are finding great deals on designer denim via thrift stores, and scooping up those wonderful $12 jeans at Forever 21.
On the other hand, paying $200 or more for a pair of skinnies isn’t just a way to blow some cash, there may actually be some math behind it.
Our reader Kathryn adds it up: “You can’t deny that if you’re a student, and jeans are your staple wardrobe, then sometimes the $200 jeans are amazing, if you wear them 7 days a week, 30 weeks of the year. If you have the perfect pair, then you don’t need to buy anything else. Cost per wear ladies, cost per wear.”
Let’s just hope you’re good friends with your local Laundromat.

Good read! I spend between $60-$100 on jeans and the ones I have a great pair of dark denim slims from The loft that were $70 and I love them! they fit perfect, I wear them several times a week and they always go back to their original shape. I can’t do the forever 21 jeans, I hate the way they fit and they fall apart… I still heart their other items though!!!

Agreed! i can justify spenging more money if its something i could wear forever. i generaly think if by the time a piece is ready to be retired you have worn it once for each dollar you spend on it, then the cost can be justified. Its still better if you can get things on sale though!!
