Get Stoked!
Last night I went to a party for NYLON’s (unofficial) favorite non-profit: Stoked Mentoring!
Stoked helps at-risk youth in NY and LA learn life-skills through surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding.
(Steve, one of Stoked’s founders, took me surfing this summer, and trust me, there’s A LOT to learn from getting your ass handed to you by a wave.)
Quiksilver’s CEO, Bob McKnight, won the Stoked Achievement award for his huge support, and another award was also handed out for mentoring pair of the year.
Sal Masekela, Stoked’s other founder – you may have heard about his bet with Diddy to beat his time in the NYC Marathon – helped raise about $30,000 more by the end of the night! (That’s in addition to the $80,000 he raised at the marathon.)
And last but not least: Big ups to Zoo York for my new desk toy, pictured here on top of a cupcake!
