This morning, NYLON TV’s Lina walked into the office with her short, peroxide blonde locks sticking straight up.
New beauty look?
Nah, just a case of helmet hair.
She’s not the only one strapping one on every time she gets on a bike. It seems what just a few years ago was considered a faux pas is now high fashion (remember that Karl Lagerfeld helmet-slash-iPod holder we featured in the June/July ’09 issue?).
During my short trip down to Miami, I spotted an amazing leather studded helmet (with matching clutch to carry your bike key lock) in the boutique Alchemist.
And the next day, Steve Birkhold (the CEO of Diesel USA) explained to me that one of the biggest surprises for the company has been how well their helmets have been selling. (In fact, just a few hours later, Kid Cudi stopped by the Diesel store on his way to the U:Music show and was spotted checking out the helmets.)
What’s the only thing missing? Helmet-ready hair products. Hey, Bumble & bumble, can you get on that? xxRebecca
