Hello, you have reached NYLON.

We’re not available to take your call right now, because we’re busy baking pies.

And elbowing our way through airports.

And mixing hot toddies.

And getting over food comas.

We’ll return your call on Monday –

Until then, check back for updates on our blog and Twitter.

We promise it will be okay – just pick up a copy of our November issue if you’ll miss us too much.

Paul & Joe & The Outnet

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

If you’re a shopping addict, you know The Outnet is a place for discount designer clothes.

It’s usually not cheap, and usually not current, but that’s what makes it fun -

If you’ve had a crush on McQ jeans from 2006 or Marc Jacobs dresses from 2008, you can probably hunt them down here.

But now The Outnet – a spinoff of Net-a-Porter – is doing something unusual.

They’ve teamed with Paul & Joe for a capsule collection that’s only available on their site.

It’s not old stock or sale merchandise – instead, it’s a brand new range of clothes created just for The Outnet, with lower prices to reflect its new space.

The coat at left costs $320, with blouses, wool shorts, and blazers clocking in at $150, $200, and $250.

But now this begs the question:

Once Paul & Joe for the Outnet goes on sale, where will it go?

Separated at Birth?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Yesterday, we got Madeleine Thompson’s new lookbook in the office.

Faran said, “Oh look, they used Caridee from Top Model!”

Rebecca said, “No, they used Poppy Delevigne.”

She was right, but it was still jarring to realize the girls look exactly alike.

Sure, Caridee smiles more, has an American accent, and doesn’t call herself a “muse” in everyday conversation, but aside from that, whoa.

It makes us wonder:

Should Poppy be Tyra’s new guest judge?

She’s never had a “muse” on panel before!

Wake Up Early for H&M

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

How can you smile as hard as Rihanna?

Wake up early this Friday and head to H&M.

If you get there (and get to the cash register) before 10 am, anything you buy is 25% off.

That’s right, anything.

That $120 trench coat?

Now it’s $90.

That $30 pair of jeans?

Now they’re $22.50.

Those $5 earrings?  Now they’re $3.75.  Set your alarms!

Good Idea or Bad Idea: Boys in Sequins?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Sequins are everywhere:

Dresses, wallets, even sneakers.

But what about when they land on men’s blazers?

That was the question debated last night with a fellow editor over sushi. Our conclusion? It works – if you’re wandering the streets of London at 2 AM.

Little did we realize how prescient the conversation would be – this morning, a link to the new music video from The Vanities landed in my inbox.

The Liverpudlian trio give glam rock a modern spin on their latest song, “Dolly”, but that’s not the only reason I was mesmerized – it was also the fact that the lead singer was wearing a sequined jacket.

On film, it looks like a disco ball – perfectly accenting the fuzzy guitar and clanging drums – but in real life, could your favorite guy pull this off? Watch the video here. xxRebecca

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Broken Embraces, the latest film from Pedro Almodovar, often feels like his own personal greatest hits.

From the plot to the actors to the movie-within-a-movie, there are plenty of references to his vast back catalogue.

While you wait for the film to open in your city (it’s out now in NYC, and will be released in LA on December 11), here are the top five Almodovar flicks to help you prepare for Broken Embraces.

Tag! Little Italy

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

“Dear Faran –

I saw this in Little Italy on my last day trip to the city.

Though it was pretty cool and different!

- Alicia from CT”

Thanks!

We’ve actually seen this boy pop up a few times in Soho…

But never on a pole.
