Tag! The Belgian Alley

Friday, January 29th, 2010

“Dear Faran,

I saw your post of the graffiti in Brussels and thought I’d pass this one along from Gent, Belgium.

The graffiti extends down an alley and is one of the only places in the area where graffiti is legal.

Pretty stunning.

Enjoy!

Meghan.”

You can scroll down to see more photos from the alley.

And if you have graffiti, we want it!  Send it to faran@nylonmag.com

Best. Cups. Ever.

Friday, January 29th, 2010

How great are these cups from Urban Outfitters?

Inspired by sculptor Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculptures, they’re able to stack and rearrange, which would be great if L-O-V-E spelled anything else besides V-O-L-E, which isn’t very romantic.

The cups are $24 for four at Urban Outfitters.

They look like they’d be great for hot chocolate and marshmallows, which is exactly what we’re craving right this second!

Word on the Street

Good news for Lookbook.nu addicts -

The LA Times is continuing its “Asphalt Runway” series indefinitely, meaning the California newspaper will post a fresh gallery of neighborhood style each week.

So far, they’ve tackled Los Feliz (left), West Hollywood, and Echo Canyon.

Next?

Who knows.

Keep your eyes peeled, Angelenos.

Dude, Where’s My TV?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

More good news for those that can’t afford cable:I Got No TV, a website that streams shows free, has a ton of new additions.Among them, several episodes of Friday Night Lights (left), entire seasons of House, and snippets of movies like The Hangover. Can this replace your NetFlix subscription?Probably not, but if – like several NYLON staffers – you’ve ditched your Cable Box altogether, this is a good backup if Hulu hasn’t uploaded Fringe yet.

I Die, Bananas

Friday, January 29th, 2010

At left, a typical piece from Eddie Borgo, the 25-year-old jeweler whose geometric designs have adorned Mary Kate Olsen, Rihanna, and most of the NYLON staff.

If you’re interested in checking him out, today is a good time:

He’s landed on Gilt Group at 50% – 70% off.

That means $300 bracelets are now $100, and it just keeps going.

Check it out before it’s too late…

The Art of Fashion

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Last night in California, Calvin Klein posed a question:

Could you create an art exhibit from a runway collection?

Their solution was an installation of fabric and shapes, made from Calvin Klein’s Spring 2010 clothes.

Among those who showed up for the show:

Jared Leto, Michelle Moneghan, and Ginnifer Goodwin, who’s showing off her new gamine haircut at left.

Bag Ladies

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Kate Moss is known as much for her iconic face and impeccable style as her taste in music.

(Not even the muddy grounds of Glastonbury have stopped the model from enjoying the legendary festival.)

But her latest rock’n'roll obsession is no doubt one you’ve been listening to for months now: the Plastiscines.

Katty, Marine, and Louise joined last night’s party celebrating Moss’ collaboration with Longchamp and, frankly, they looked like rock stars.

And unlike the bags, which won’t be hitting stores until February, you can get your hands on the Plastiscines’ album right now.

(Though we do think that the braided leather and zebra-print Longchamp bags would look rather good on the French foursome.)
