Darren Kicks Ken’s Butt

Meet Darren.

Created by Mattel, he’s a new rival to Ken – and we think he’s gonna beat him.

Besides being infinitely cuter than Barbie’s other half, Darren’s got a better haircut, a better wardrobe (thanks to Jay-Z, who dressed him in Rocawear clothing), and a cool British accent.

That last part comes courtesy of Selfridges, the London department store that will sell Darren exclusively through the month of March.

Darren was created by Barbie designer Stacey McBride-Irby, an African-American mom who says, “Barbie inspired me to realise my dream of becoming a designer, and I want my dolls to inspire girls to play, create and live out their dreams!”

Also:

According to the press release, Darren “excels at sports and geography.”

Which means he can tell you exactly how to get to Selfridges and buy him, for around $40.

Cheap date.

    darran seems nice. I wish they had him when I played with barbie back in the 90s & early 2000. What about now an asian dude, like say from india, pakistan or sri lanka huh?! =P
