Radio Free NYLON
Last Friday, we got an SOS call from the DJ Aaron LaCrate.
Turns out his buddy, Mark Ronson, would miss their shared radio show on EVR, the East Village Radio station beloved by punks, emos, and soul brothers around the City. Aaron needed a new co-host.
I showed up at 8 pm, and for two hours we blasted Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, The Roots, and Aaron’s own remixes for Madonna and Lily Allen.
We also got a special live performance from British soul kitten Lana Del Ray, plus a peek at photographer Jeanette Beckmann’s new book on Run DMC and New York’s hip hop pioneers.
Then we all went out for pizza – which took the night from fun to perfect.
Check out some pics from our radio adventure, and tune into EVR every Friday night for Aaron, and his regularly scheduled co-host, the insanely good Mark Ronson. xo faran
