What The Like Are Like, Live

Last night at Bowery Ballroom, The Like played a fast-paced, energetic set at the Bowery Ballroom, opening for the Futureheads.

The foursome consists of original band-mates Elizabeth “Z” Berg (lead vocals/ guitar) and Tennessee Thomas (drums), paired with new additions Annie Monroe (organ) and Laena Geronimo (bass).

They took the stage in adorable, 60′s Mod inspired wear. Laena rocked an amazing burnt orange romper and Beatles-esq Italian boots, while sassy Z Berg channeled a Twiggy/ Edie Sedgewick combo with her short blonde bob and white baby-doll dress.

Their new songs follow suit as an ode to all things 60′s. The bass in “Wishing He Was Dead” serves up a successful psychedelic sound, laced with undertones of Annie’s eerie organ. The result is playful and irresistibly dance-worthy. Tennessee sets the pace with her quick, flawless drumming, while Z Berg’s sweet voice coats even the harshest of boy-bashing lyrics.

Their sophomore album, Release Me, produced by Mark Ronson, is out on June 15th. You won’t be disappointed by this refreshing punch of girl-power.
