Would you Wear Leather Shorts?!

On the February runways, one thing kept popping up:
Leather shorts.
They came shaped like cutoffs, like Daisy Dukes, and high waisted (like the McQ shorts at left).
Sometimes girls wore tights underneath, or thigh-highs, or went bare.
But now that they’re popping up in actual stores, we have to ask:
Would you actually wear leather shorts?
When?
How?
(At this point in the blog post, Ali Hoffman leans over my desk and says, “Remember that Friends episode? When Ross had to spread baby powder all over his body so he could wear leather pants?” And I do, and we laugh.) xo faran.

I’m a vegan, and thus I eschew leather. Even if I weren’t vegan I wouldn’t wear leather shorts because they’re tacky. They remind me of lederhosen.

I love my leather shorts, I wear them all the time! With black tights and a crop top usually…

That Friend’s episode was hilarious! Remember when he was at the girl’s house and was trying to take them off?! Hahaha. Yes, I would def wear leather shorts! I’ll have to wait sometime for them to come to my side of the world, though, we’re normally a bit late in the ‘trends’! x

I wear leather shorts all the time! Especially to go out at night, its more refreshing than wearing a dress or long trousers, and it’s still edgy and glam.

I wear them already! They are pretty much my favourite piece in my closet, but you can’t wear them in the weather we are having now.

yess, i would definitely wear them! I’d probably wear them on a normal day or going out, whatever…for the day i’d wear them with a simple white cutoff/crop top OR with a white bustier top and a light (preferably acid washed) jean vest, or for night i’d wear it with the bustier top and a really loud, bright blazer (maybe cobalt blue or something) and statement heels

Yeah!! Rock them for a night out with heels & a vintage tee or tank for a rocker look.

They would only be cool if the shorts were not real leather. I don’t need to be wearing a cow thankyou. Pleather is the way to go. I wear them with a white tee, biker boots, aviator sunglasses, and hair messy; rock and roll baby.

Save it for the rockstars! In Jr. High I bought a pair of leather pants and wore them to school because I thought they were so hot, but that’s what they turned out to be literally, HOT and sweaty….never again! The only classic piece of leather clothing worth buying is a leather jacket…otherwise no, save leather for the accessories.

I think they’re hot! The only reason I wouldn’t wear them is because I can imagine leather shorts are outside of my budget. I don’t mind spending a pretty penny on a leather jacket since those aren’t going out of style any time soon but I tend not to spend big bucks on the faddish stuff.
If I did have the money though, I’d totally buy some. I think they’d be great for going out at night. Plus you could wear them bare legged in the summer (although I suppose it depends on the climate–in SoCal where I live its chilly at night always) and come the colder months you could totally pair them with tights, over the knee socks, or boots. I don’t think they’re a bad idea…just a pricey one!

At first I didn’t like them, but they’ve grown on me. I fell in love with the Alexander Wang tan leather shorts after I saw them on Stevie Dance! They were a great style.

I’ve been trying to find affordable leather shorts for months now. It seems that they come and go with mass hysteria so I can never get my hands on them. I absolutely love the Alexander Wang high waisted shorts, which happen to be my dream pair.

Oh yes! I agree with Cheryl, but you don’t have to buy REAL leather shorts! I’ve seen many chain stores slowing bringing in the their fall collections and all of them include leather shorts. I feel like it will give you a/w wardrobe an edgy, updated look to last year’s clothes. I’d only wear them bare on a warm (not hot!) summer day and in the winter through on some black, heck, colorful tights for an instant pop!

Leather shorts rule esp hi-waisted with pleats…wear with vintage cropped bed jacket to soften the look or go all out with a lace leotard.

I love the idea of leather shorts but alas I cannot wear them. I live in Texas and it doesn’t reach below upper 90′s-100′s until October. Even at night time, my wardrobe has to consist of linen and cotton, really. I totally wish I could rock these, though, but it’s not practical for Texas. *sigh*

I’ve benn looking for a good leather shorts which is not extreme funky.
If I have the leather shorts like the pic above, I would wear with ciffon tops! it looks like “Suger and Spice”. i think leather shorts is good matching with anything such as T shirts, Denim jaket, Sweater etc…
Now, I thought I must get it!!kk

Well, I consider this post is in an uncanny parallel with a lot of what I’ve been pondering for a good number of weeks. On the one hand, I can see the point of what you are saying but others might consider, can we not maybe consider these circumstances through the eyes of those involved, more so than solely seeing it from our own narrow view. Wherever you go on this earth you will get certain stuff you like, and things you are not too . The crucial point of this is to just sit and accept it just the way it is and not to be sucked in to all the frenzy that envelopes it. I truly believe in this individual situation, that is exactly what has happened, although I may possibly be wrong. I would very much like to get other peoples’ perspectives on this issue.
