Is ping pong the cool new sport?

There’s SPiN, the new club in NYC that is all table tennis, all the time.

Rumor has it there’s even a reality TV show in the works that documents the sport’s cult following.

Last weekend at the Hester Street Flea Market, there was a competitive ping pong tournament.

Even Henri Bendel is getting in on the action, with its new table tennis kit (complete with their signature stripes.)

Is it just because the World Cup mania is winding down, or are we sensing a trend here?
