leighton cuts it out
Tweet
Fact: the cut-out dress trend is one of the trickiest trends to pull off.
Obviously, you have to have major confidence to bare random splices of skin.
Also? The look can go very wrong, very fast.
Leighton Meester tries her hand at the look in a Versus dress, complete with major cut-outs.
Hmm…what would Blair Waldorf say?
Take a closer look at her entire outfit, and let us know what you think- or, if you’re brave enough to attempt this trend yourself!

dig it.

If she’s looking to make herself look as square as possible, she’s succeeding. If the hemline were either flounced or longer, she might have been able to pull it off, but tbh, the straight horizontal cuts do nothing for her. If they were more of a chevron shape, this dress would look less like a cosplay attempt gone horribly wrong.

I’m all for the cut-out look, but this is just too much!!! No thanks, Leighton!

Leighton is the image of perfection. She went from barely being able to afford high fashion to being an icon. We should give her props for taking a risk that worked.

I think the shoes are wrong for the dress, but she pulls the look off very well.

Yikes…that looks like something straight out of Star Trek.

I not sure if that bust matches the rest of the dress’ shapes. Honestly I think it’s that shiny fabric, it really gets to me. Every crease and crinkle is magnified. Maybe if the dress was a matte color it would appear more flattering. But I appreciate the concept and Leighton does look indeed look lovely.

Props to Leighton for taking another risk in fashion. The look almost works, but it would’ve looked clean and chic if she put her hair up and made the purse into a clutch.

it looks a little silly. i agree, i think the fabric bugs me the most about it. looks like a costume, but not a hot one.

I like the dress but I don’t love it on her. It seems like the type of thing that looks great on the runway, then you think “Oh, I could totally rock that.” But obviously it doesn’t look as you planned…

I think she looks great the color looks great with her hair color!

Its honestly i liitle to much for me the colors awesome but to loud for this dress and the amount of skin showing isnt my thing. Id rather Be sexy without showing a shit ton of skin ya dig. It kinda reminds me of a christmas present with all that shine. shes hellaa gorgeous tho.

feel free to disagree, but I think that everything’s perfect about this except the midsection. If you imagine that part NOT being cut out, I think everything would look perfect, even though it’s certainly a short dress. Not that she doesn’t look hot in it.
