Dakota Fanning Scores Modeling Contract

dakotaWe all know Dakota Fanning is beautiful.

But it seems the company that represents Gisele, Kate Moss, and Erin Wasson wants to bank on that, too.

This weekend, we spotted Dakota Fanning on the IMG Models Board, right by Liv Tyler and Lauren Hutton.  And although that doesn’t necessarily mean anything for Dakota’s possible fashion career, we hope since we spotted her at the Miu Miu show, she might star in their future campaign.  (Hey, if it worked for Kirsten…)

Meanwhile, here’s something else we noticed:

Ann Ward, the winner of America’s Next Top Model – which includes an IMG contract – hasn’t been added to the modeling agency’s roster yet.  We’re dying to see her test pictures though!

What other celebs should have a modeling deal?

I think elle’s even more beautiful than dakota

  2. missyeley Says:

@paola: yes, elle is definitely prettier & adorable but i find that dakota has this edge in her. that edge that defines her and differentiate her from conventionally pretty girls out there.

Celebs shouldn’t be models at all. They already took over the magazine covers, and now this? It’s not fair for the beautiful girls who want to be models but don’t have the vanity to do so, unlike these celebrities.

I totally agree that celebrities should not be able to model when they already have the opportunity to be on the cover page of a magazine. They are taking all of our opportunities to become celebs and they should stick to what they were already doing. Modeling should be for the Direct Public Offering teenagers a chance to become successful in the modeling industry.

I thought the reason celebrities have modeling contracts at all was for them to have agents to arrange their campaign contracts and fashion shoots. In an article that linked to this page, the journalist wrote that the biggest gig that Taylor Momsen ever scored while being a part of IMG was the cover of Teen Vogue before she parted ways with the agency. I’ve also noticed that a lot of actors, actresses, and musical acts have modeling contracts. I assume that the fashion shoots they do to promote their projects have something to do with that. Otherwise, how else would a magazine know that an actress was deserving of a magazine cover for that month?

I prefer Dakota’s more elongated face to Elle’s rounder face. But they are both incredibly gorgeous so really it is all good. Blond hair, blue eyes, pale as snow: they really are both beautiful. To say Elle is even more beautiful than Dakota kind of sounds like we are pitting each sister against each other when I’m sure the parents are happy for both equally. I don’t think they would want a Beyonce, Solange situation where one sister is more successful than another. For them both to conquer Hollywood together would be the best scenario imaginable. Dakota is better well known and Elle is an emerging talent (she’s only 12 after all). However, Elle is growing up way too quickly physically which could be negative since she will get grown up attention from older men. Working in Hollywood will make her grow up even quicker…

She’s been with IMG for over a year… Just fyi.

  8. Steph Says:

Being a celebrity has nothing to do with professional modeling. If Dakota has the drive and ability to model as well as act then so she should.

  9. jc Says:

Elle is a very pretty young girl, and Dakota, who is quickly becoming a young woman, is not as pretty as she used to be. It happens. But as someone said, Dakota does have an edginess to her and though not as “conventionallly” pretty as others (i.e. she suffers in comparision to Kristen Stewart in the “Runaways”.) Not everybody can actually become prettier with age. Look at Kate Beckinsale, now in her late thirties, she is getting prettier as she gets older. Looks are subjective, and Dakota is certainly not unattractive, by any standard, and is immensely talented as an actress. She’ll be fine.

If she has the height and the body type (which I believe she does), then she should definitely have the option to model. I think her face combines the best of the current obsession of Eastern European women, Cali cool, and East coast edge for her to be a success in both print and on the catwalk.

as gorgeous as she looks in her portfolio i think celebs should really leave modelling oppurtunities for the millions of girls who dream of a career in modelling. celebs should keep to their existing careers, in dakotas case acting obviously. ppurtunities should be made for girls like natalia vodianova. modelling money would completely trasform their lives.

  12. Anna Says:

@Joyce she’s just 5’4”, IMG requires 16 year old girls to be at least 5’9″ to submit, i think it’s quite unfair that she gets to model at that height just because of her name, i mean, i’m happy about her, but they wouldn’t admit another pretty regular 5’4” .. just sayin
