jck The Beat writer and On the Road author would have turned 89 this weekend.

And although Kerouac passed away in 1969, his influence is definitely still going strong.

Case in point:

A modern day interpretation of his iconic novel will hit the big screen later this year, starring Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty, Kristen Stewart as MaryLou, and Kirsten Dunst as Camille.

But before the film is released, we suggest reading (or re-reading) the original…just because it’s that good.
