hear me now: miracle fortress
Producer Graham Van Pelt doesn’t cater to the impatient.
His songs unfold slowly and carefully – it takes over two minutes for the beat to drop on single “Raw Spectacle” – but if you’re willing to put in the time, it’s definitely worth it.
Was I the Wave, Van Pelt’s second album as Miracle Fortress, comes out tomorrow (in Canada) on Secret City Records.
Part experimental-ambient and part 80s pop, Was I the Wave is all massive synth-scapes littered with electro beats, and Van Pelt’s dreamy wail towering above.
Guest appearances by a funky sub-bass make tracks like “Everything Works,” and “Miscalculations” dance-worthy gems, are perfect starting points for those of us with short attention spans.
Was I the Wave won’t be available in the U.S till May 17th, but until then, listen here.
