behind the music
Now, I know we were always taught not to judge a book by its cover.
But now that I’m old enough to do as I wish, I do tend to do exactly that.
Fortunately enough, this one ticks both the boxes.
Rolling Stone magazine’s Rob Sheffield has released a second book, after his successful ’07 debut novel, Love in a Mixtape.
This latest, Talking to Girls About Duran Duran, is about just that.
Giving further insight into his gawky teenage years, it reveals the ins and outs of his quest for romance and hunt for good music.
In a decade shaped by shoulder pads and silly haircuts, the book is dotted with smart, funny and emotional memories, and cleverly explores how music affects relationships.
Check it out for yourself here and consider it the latest addition to any summer reading list.
