ironing out the details
Ironing isn’t exactly the most noble of tasks, but perhaps this was artist Win Delvoye’s motivation for these gothic ironing boards.
Painted with enamel, they feature family crest-style eagles, lions, dragons like something out of Elizabethan England…if the Tudors had needed to de-wrinkle a blouse, that is.
The ironing boards are part of Delvoye’s gothic works, which reinterpret modern items with baroque details.
You can check them out–along with Delvoye’s other, much stranger artwork– on his blog.
And though the pieces are not exactly for sale, you could always take inspiration and spray-paint your own ironing board with a personal seal.
Ours would be pink, and definitely have a crown.
How ’bout yours?
