This week, Maria Sharapova plays at Madison Square Garden, and to celebrate, she had a dinner party at The Standard Hotel with TAG Heuer.

She showed up wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress – “He was so sweet, and backstage after his show, he asked which dress I loved, and made sure I got it!” – with Giuseppe Zanotti heels – “They’re not that high!” she insisted, “I wear heels all the time, even right before a game,” – a studded denim Mulberry bag, and a white TAG Heuer watch.

Maria admitted she still loves doing arts + crafts but her current obsession is Parenthood. She said it’s weird to drive through Sochi (her hometown on the coast of The Black Sea) because construction for The 2014 Olympics has completely taken over.  She helped correct our Russian accent on some tricky words.

Then we ate brownie sundaes.  We wondered about the imminent Lindsay Lohan episode of SNL. We covertly opened the TAG Heuer goody bags underneath our table. (They had black leather driving gloves inside, with pads sewn into the fingers so you can text while you wear them.)

It was a really fun night – and we’re still obsessed with this dress – but next time we see you, Maria, we’re scheduling a craft party.

Seriously.

Bring your bedazzler and your lanyard thread, and get ready.  We might not be able to beat you on the tennis court, but when it comes to a Friendship Bracelet showdown, it’s on.
