best buzz band: haim
Having a lot of hype before a festival even begins can be awesome, because it means people already know who you are.
But it can also blow up in your face if the performances are less than stellar.
That’s not the case with HAIM, a trio of LA sisters who have everyone talking big game- and actually living up to these sky-high expectations.
I ran over to catch Este, Danielle and Alana last night at Karma downtown, where I met up with one of my friends- “They’re going to blow you away,” she told me. “I’m not even worried about hyping them up too much, because I know they will.”
They did.
I loved the way all three girls were different- each girl had distinct style, with Danielle shimming up in the middle in a grungy oversized t-shirt and jeans. Their voices melded together perfectly, they had serious attitude, and while “Forever” and “Better Off” sounded just as good live as on the EP, they played a new track that we’re especially excited about (stay tuned for that one….).
We know, we know. We just talked HAIM up in a huge way. But we have a feeling they can handle it…..
