Head over to Slate’s gallery, “Put A Monster On It,” which features artists who take old yard-sale paintings of landscapes and insert their own monsters / robots / zombie mermaids into the scene.

What do you think about this technique – is it cool and innovative, or would you feel a twinge of disrespect to the original artist?

    Both. I think it’s awesome and want one! But at the same time I sort of feel bad for the artist who probably worked hard at it. But you never know, the original artist might love it as well!
