Good Idea or Bad Idea: The Bracelet Key

bracelet-keyNo matter how many Post-it notes we stick on the fridge or reminders we set in our phones, somehow we still manage to forget our keys.

In other words, we think this new bracelet key would be pretty convenient. Designed by Kim Ji Soo, Kim Jeongmin and Chung Boogun, the bangle is made of silicon, and one end is shaped into a shaft that pops out and fits right into your door.

It would also look pretty cute stacked on your wrist with a bunch of other bands, and since you’ve got a choice of green, yellow orange or turquoise, it’d probably make sense to invest in more than one (if you have a car or a mailbox, too).

Our only problem with the idea: if you’re the type to constantly lose your accessories, someone else will probably find it, leaving you locked out and a random stranger with a key to your apartment. And you’ll be one bracelet short of an arm party.

You can’t buy these anywhere yet (although the concept received a red dot award for design), but you can still check them out and let us know what you think!

  8. Connie Says:

This is not a good idea, it is a great idea. My first thought was it would be great for kids. But there would be many other convenient times to have this.

  9. Jessica Says:

Great idea for runners, especially if it was combined with an ID tag in case of emergency. It would cut down on the number of items we have to take with us to run outside safely.

  14. mrslittle Says:

Hmm..I forget accessories way more than I forget my keys, so while this is a really neat idea, I’m afraid I’d be locked out a lot more often than I am now.

  15. MS KELLY Says:

    BRILLIANT

  16. Kendra Says:

I really hope this happens! You would not believe how many times I have left work and found myself locked out of my car. I think every family member has a spare key and I know they are sick of coming to my rescue.

  17. Thea Says:

This is a great idea. Perfect way to carry your key with you when you have no pockets or don’t want anything extra weighing you down, like when you are running. I really hope these will start being produced soon!

I am SO disappointed that this item is not legit and in production, yet! I found this on Pinterest and was all set to click the link so that I could purchase 6 of them for my niece and nephews for Christmas. “Booooooooooooooooo on you” for premature advertising!

  20. Watermelan Says:

Good idea. How about a bracelet to store your key in or attach a similar way this one is made!

  21. Angel Says:

I need one where and when can I get them?

  22. RR21 Says:

This is an amazing idea and should be pitched to a large sporting vendor.. Nike, Underarmor, etc!

  23. Tina Says:

This is an amazing idea!! I would love to have one (or more) This would beat wearing a key around your neck! As to the stated problem about losing it….unless someone knew where the key fit, I don’t think it would cause too much of a problem. LOL, just don’t write your name and address on the bracelet. Maybe a secure fig. 8 safety clasp could be fashionably included to prevent it falling off? Oooh, I could see these even being ‘blinged’ out, and wearing for any occassion. I hope eventually you will get these to market! Congrats on a great idea!

  24. beth c Says:

  30. Crystal Says:

Great idea! Would love to have a couple of these.

  31. Beth Says:

i think it’s a great concept. while not as sleek, i think a more practical approach would be to make a bracelet to which you could attach keys you already have, rather than having to get different bracelets for different keys and having new ones cut all the time. love it though!

  32. Christie Says:

I looove this!! The closest thing I have found is the go key! Same concept, different design

  33. Roxie Says:

Sounds like a great idea and I think it would be a big hit, if they aren’t too expensive!

I think it is a great idea. But, I need one for my truck and that would be hard to make. I don’t know how many times that I have locked my keys in the truck due to my mind being on other things.

  45. knoop Says:

This is the greatest idea ever. Anyone can wear it. It definitely needs to come in black though. I would by several.

  46. woo Says:

    i wan’t a FEW of these!

  47. Jenn Says:

Sure, its a great idea, but why not just get an electronic keypad lock for your front door instead….

  48. april Says:

I want several would come in handed for caring home and car keys. Plus latchkey kids

  49. b____ Says:

I love the concept, but a couple things concern me: 1) looks like it will be hard to get on, 2) it better latch better than it looks in the pic — you get it caught on anything mistakenly and you’re s.o.l., and 3) how flexible is it? — both my doors are knobs and I know I would be fighting with the non-key side to get it out of the way and fit the key in.

Think I’ll stick with tying my key to my shoelaces.

  50. Shaila Says:

Oh… cool idea. sometimes we lost keys somewhere. if we use this types bracelet, it could not be happen again.

  51. Rogiena Says:

WOW! I love it I will have one if I can afford it

  52. Lola Says:

Love this idea! If I could wear my house key and my car key and NEVER have to deal with a with a massive key ring filled with keys i don’t use all the time I would love it!!!!

  53. Jen Says:

It’s a great idea all right but couldn’t we just slide our own keys onto a simple bracelet anyway?

  54. Marie Says:

    Great idea! I need this!

  55. Marie Says:

    Great idea! Need this!

  56. Patti Says:

Love this! Are they in production yet??

  57. PRIS Says:

I live in an apartment. I have a regular front door and sliding doors in the back…my problem is that i leave ALL doors locked when i am home. So when I take my dog for her potty business I go thru slidng doors…and sometimes it locks! Now the office will loan me a key but I can tell you that if I get locked out…its during a time they are “out of the office” .. this would be great

  58. Christina Says:

GENIUS!!! I have dropped/lost my key numerous times while jogging outside. This would be AMAZING to have! I just hope it could accommodate different size key holes. I think US keyholes are larger (wider) than the UK. If I could buy this and take it to the locksmith to create I would be more than thrilled!! Please email me when this is available.
